"Pa Than Bridge" is an ancient bridge over five hundred years old. The remains are on the island in the middle of the road. The Pha Than Bridge was built across the Pratu Khao Paddy Canal. Connects to Chao Phrom Road on both sides This road in the Ayutthaya period was originally built from bricks. Starting from the Royal Palace in front of the Chakkraphayayon Throne Hall to the east Divide the area of Wat Mahathat and Wat Ratchaburana apart Then pass through the bridge of the forest to get out of the eastern city gate, north of Bang Ien, at the Chan Palace.
Ancient documents say Pa Than Bridge is a brick bridge built for crossing the Pratu Khao Paddy Canal.
The Khao Paddy Canal was an important transportation route in that era. because passing in front of two important temples, which are Wat Mahathat and Wat Ratchaburana both in the document explaining the map of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Phraya Boran Ratchathanin (Phon Dechakup) also claims that at the mouth of the paddy door canal "There is a fort forming a book fan on both sides of the canal. Strange than other canals", a bridge built for crossing the Pratu Khao paddy canal. therefore, it is an important bridge and located in the transport junction area.
Phraya Boran Ratchathanin explained that the word "forest" in the Ayutthaya period did not refer to a deserted area like a forest. In contrast to the district (that is, the place) known as the forest in the city. Back is the bridge market that meets people. It means that any area has a main product, it is called. Forest of things
Charcoal forest area is therefore a market area with "Charcoal" as the main product. But it's not just selling charcoal. Because the testimony of Khun Luang Ha Wat said that "Yan Pa Than Road has a market for all kinds of fruits, oranges, bananas of the inner and outer gardens. and there is a shop selling fresh produce in the morning and evening called "Pa Char Market" It is the junction of the local historical and commercial district.
