Wat Chedi Chet Thaeo Located within the city of Si Satchanalai. in the central area It is located in line with Wat Chang Lom, Wat Nang Phaya and Wat Suan Kaew Suan Yai. (Wat Chang Lom is located in the northwest end Next is the Chedi Chet Thaeo Temple. Wat Suan Kaew National Park and Wat Nang Phaya located in the southeast end)

History of Chedi Chet Thaeo Temple does not appear in the chronicles but in the book "Phra Ruang Tuang Muang Phra Ruang" has said a little about the history of this temple that “This Wat Chet Thaew was originally called Wat Kalayanimit because it was built by Phraya Thida of Phra Maha Thammaracha (Bathammarat).” (Panita Uttamot 1976 :11)

His Majesty the King's royal decision in the book Visit Phra Ruang That "Wat Chedi Chet Thaew is a big temple. Therefore, it must be assumed to see who it belongs to. Mr. Tian said This temple was originally called Kalayanimit Temple Because the queen daughter of Phra Maha Thammaracha (Bathammarat) was created. Mr. Tian cites the burning book as another witness." As for Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Krom Phraya Damrong Rajanupap There is an amulet that this temple is a temple that is more beautiful than other temples. It may be the temple of the king who ruled this city. and other pagodas Probably containing the ashes of the princes of the Sukhothai dynasty.

As for the name of the seven rows, it is assumed that it was the name that was later created by the local people. The reason for this name is because many rows of pagodas are found within the temple.

General characteristics of Chedi Chet Thaeo Temple

This temple has two laterite walls:the outer layer is 97.80 meters wide, 145.50 meters long, and the inner layer is 58.70 meters wide and 94.80 meters long. The walls on each floor have entrances on all 4 sides. south east and south west As for the north west side Drilled a hole in the wall, didn't make an arch Both walls were made of laterite. The outer wall was made of laterite in the form of a long bar. The soil plan is arranged in rows. and overlaid the top with laterite in the shape of a square The inner wall was made of laterite in a manner similar to the arrangement of bricks (Panita Uttamot 1976 :12).

The important thing within the wall is Phum Khao Bin chedi or a large lotus bud shaped pagoda which is the main chedi of this Chet Thaeo temple The base of the pagoda is a square shape, 13.50 meters wide on each side, surrounded by a winding balcony. There are altars in all 4 directions, especially the front, which is the southeast side. A larger altar appeared on the other side. In front of the stupa appears a viharn connected from the balcony at the base of the stupa. It looks like a vihara with 11 rooms, 16 meters wide, 47.80 meters long.

The Fine Arts Department excavated and renovated this viharn in 1966. It appears that inside the viharn there are traces of burnt at the altar area. occupies the presiding place because they found a large amount of mortar, bronze and ashes (Phitaya Damdenngam and Prachot Sangkanukit 1971 :35)

The pagoda is shaped like a lotus bud or canopy of khao bin. Its characteristics are that the lower part has a large chopping board, stacked in layers. Tested to support the chicken breast lotus base This section contains a square layout. It is a specific pattern of this chedi. and appear in some other chedi of this temple as well The lower part that assembles the aforementioned base unit. It may be related to the regulation of the lower part at Wat Ku Kut Chedi, Lamphun. The two steps at the front start from the base of the chopping board on the lowest floor, almost converge at the top of the chicken breast lotus base. There is only the main chedi of the temple. and is located at the main chedi (Phra Sri Mahathat) of Wat Mahathat Sukhothai which is also a chedi topped with a lotus bud The double staircase may have been modified from the single staircase of the Great Castle at Pollannaruwa. Sri Lanka Which was built in the 17th century.

The upper part of the chedi is in the shape of jackfruit petals and lotus petals that adorn the elemental house. It is an element that connects the continuity between the elemental house and the lotus bud-shaped upper part. can be noticed The upper part is in the shape of a lotus bud, with a ring-like ring, slender overlapping, slendering upwards.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn saw that the characteristics "Similar to the Lanka Chedi" The Lanka-shaped chedi has a bell body. quadrilateral throne and a cone made up of segments continue to be a banana For this reason why are the flowers above the lotus bud shape? Therefore, it is comparable to the existing characteristics of the Lanka-style chedi.

This chedi that appears as some smaller chedi, such as chedi No. 15,22, has been modified more. By making both sides of the lower part into deep holes (Jaranam) for enshrining Buddha images, which are mostly damaged. or has been moved Deep channels on all 4 sides look like booths this part of the pagoda Therefore, it has a structure similar to that there is a center column to support the weight that is pressed down from the top.

behind the main chedi It appears that the chedi is outstanding. Jedi No.33 Looks like a regular chedi The castle shape in Sukhothai style is a blend of Khmer, Lanna and Sukhothai influences. It is also a chedi in a Mondop style, meaning there is a room for enshrining Buddha images. but has a chedi top There are 11 peaks in total. There is a front door for entering the booth. On the side, there are 2 bird-wing arches enshrining a small stucco Buddha image. Inside the booth or the room enshrined a stucco Buddha image in the posture of giving forgiveness Inside the booth, there are murals in the Sukhothai period, which are considered to be the oldest paintings. Around the end of the 19th Buddhist century - the beginning of the 20th Buddhist century, but nowadays it is so hazy that no traces can be seen.

Behind the pagoda, there is an arch enshrining the Naga Prok Buddha image. In general, in the Sukhothai period, the Naga Prok Buddha image was not built in 1958. This Buddha image is in perfect condition. The Fine Arts Department has therefore made a simulation. And at that time, the historical park project has not been established. To maintain ancient sites - antiques, after only 2-3 years later, thieves came to smuggle and cut off the head of Luang Por. The Fine Arts Department then restored it by removing the print from the model. and the part of the Naga that was damaged brought to complete By maintaining conservation principles to distinguish between the original and the new.

Jedi No. 3 located in the north Diagonal with the main chedi It is a corner chedi in the shape of a top castle, showing the influence of Bagan art. It can be seen from the facade decorated with Peka pod patterns. Decorating the wood with a cross pattern The stupa is square in shape decorated with stucco in lotus petal designs. and the bell is decorated with a chest garter This chedi is made into a kiosk enshrining Buddha images on all four sides, consisting of a Buddha image in the posture of opening the world. Leela Buddha and the Buddha image offering forgiveness But none of them are in perfect condition. Often there is no head, no arm, no foot.

The cause is called Wat Chedi Chet Thaeo because many rows of chedi were found within the temple. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presumed that Wat Chedi Chet Thaeo is the place where the ashes of the Sukhothai royal family are enshrined. because the Rai Rai and Viharn Rai, including the Mondop, were found as the largest number in the city wall, as many as 33 and the location of the temple It's also opposite the palace.
