archaeological essence

Information from the Fine Arts Office 1, Ratchaburi states that the Red Chedi looks like a brick and cement chedi. There is a plan in the form of a square. Twenty wooden recesses, lion bases, brick walkways around the chedi. Soil brick base The width is about 17x17 meters and the height is about 20 meters. The first floor base is a 4-storey chopping board base set. Above the cutting board base is a Singha base. Next up is a square base with twenty wooden corner pits straight up. Support octagonal element house There are decorative arches on the outer walls on all 8 sides. The top of the wall is cut evenly as if it was not finished. The area inside the elemental house is an octagonal room with an entrance door on the east side. But there is no sign of the stairs leading up. therefore cannot know the usage characteristics.

There is no clear evidence of the construction history. From the architectural style of the chedi, it is assumed that it dates from the middle of the 23rd Buddhist century, which is consistent with historical evidence in the Ayutthaya period that may be related to the construction of the Red Chedi. There is a passage mentioning King Suea. When he was a Khun Luang Sorasak, he came to surround the elephants in the Phetchaburi forest. In the year of Chula Rak 1064, the year of the pig, twat, corresponds to the year 2245 (the reign of King Borom urn), although the chronicles do not mention the construction of a chedi, but from the name "Ban Rai Paniat" where this red chedi is located. It shows that this area should have been the site of an elephant band before. Therefore, it is possible that when King Suea came to surround the elephants in Phetchaburi May graciously It is possible to build Paniad and the Red Pagoda as well.
