The Ahl al-Bayt include the Twelve Imams, who are the spiritual leaders of Shia Islam. The Twelve Imams are believed to have inherited the Prophet's authority and knowledge, and they are considered to be infallible guides for the Muslim community. The twelfth and final Imam, Muhammad al-Mahdi, is believed to be alive in hiding and will return to earth one day to establish justice and peace.
