The Sopwith Triplan was a British triplane fighter aircraft of World War I.

This aircraft was developed from the Sopwith Pup and, in order to improve its capabilities and maneuverability, a third wing was added. The prototype was ready in May 1916.

Its entry into operational service took place in November 1916, but it was replaced by the more capable Sopwith Camel after only one year of service. A total of 152 copies of this aircraft were built. It was certainly handy, but it was handicapped by too weak an armament and insufficient flight performance. The Germans took up the idea of a triplane aircraft and developed the Fokker Dr.I which had a more brilliant career.
