- The Pennsylvania Fireplace, also called the Franklin Stove. This was a more efficient wood stove that was designed to produce more heat and less smoke. Unfortunately, it was not as successful as Franklin had hoped, as it required too much regular attention and upkeep to maintain its efficiency.
- The Glass Armonica. This was a musical instrument made of glass bowls that were rotated to produce sound. The instrument had a beautiful, ethereal sound, but it was not widely adopted due to the difficulty in playing it.
- The Bifocals. Although Benjamin Franklin is often credited with the invention of bifocals, it was actually Sir John Herschel who invented them. The credit is often given to Franklin because he was one of the first to popularize the use of bifocals.
