The Panará typically go naked, but during cold nights they wear a long rope of cotton (timbó). Sometimes men adorn themselves with colourful headbands and wear arm and leg bands as well. The body is painted (painted skin) on several occasions, such as during rituals. The red urucum fruit provides the pigment. Men are adorned with large lip and nose ornaments, often resembling plates or sticks, but no other ornaments. Women wear ear adornments, necklaces and bracelets.
