What did the Ancient Egyptians do?

Built massive structures, including the pyramids. The pyramids were built as tombs for pharaohs. The largest pyramid, the Great Pyramid of Giza, is the only surviving structure from the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Developed a system of writing, known as hieroglyphics. Hieroglyphics were used to write both religious and secular texts. The Rosetta Stone, which was discovered in the 19th century, helped to decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics.

Practiced polytheism, meaning that they worshiped many gods and goddesses. Some of the most important gods and goddesses included Ra (the sun god), Osiris (the god of the underworld), and Isis (the goddess of magic and motherhood).

Developed a calendar. The Egyptian calendar was one of the first calendars to be based on the sun. It was divided into 12 months, each of which was divided into 30 days.

Were skilled mathematicians. The Egyptians developed a system of mathematics that was used for various purposes, including building pyramids and surveying land.

Had a sophisticated medical system. Egyptian doctors used a variety of techniques to treat illnesses, including surgery, drugs, and physical therapy.
