Where did branflakes come from?

The origins of bran flakes can be traced back to 1863 when a physician named James Caleb Jackson developed a food for diabetics from ground wheat bran. The product was called "Granula" and was commercially available in 1877. Later in 1896, one of Jackson's patients Kellogg Brothers (John Harvey Kellogg and William Keith Kellogg) started producing their granola using graham flour. After a change of ingredients and names over time, the product was named "bran flakes" and became a successful commercial cereal widely consumed today.
