Ancient history

In olden days coins were made of gold or silverwhy they not leather?

Coins were not made of leather in olden days because leather is not a durable material and would not be suitable for use as currency. Leather is susceptible to wear and tear, and can easily be torn or damaged. It is also not a very stable material, and can change shape and size over time. Additionally, leather is not resistant to water or fire, and could easily be destroyed if exposed to these elements.

In contrast, gold and silver are both very durable materials that are resistant to wear and tear, and do not change shape or size over time. They are also both resistant to water and fire, making them ideal for use as currency.
