How many gods did people in Egypt worship?

Ancient Egyptians were polytheistic, believing in many gods. The exact number of gods and goddesses worshipped in ancient Egypt is difficult to determine as religious beliefs and practices evolved over time. However, estimates range from several hundred to over 2,000 deities. Each god and goddess had specific roles, responsibilities, and attributes. Some of the most prominent and widely worshiped deities included Ra (the sun god), Osiris (the god of the underworld), Isis (goddess of magic and motherhood), Horus (the falcon-headed god of kingship), Anubis (god of embalming and the afterlife), Thoth (god of knowledge and wisdom), and Sekhmet (goddess of war and healing).
