History of Europe

Why did Germany lose the most people in world war 1?

It's not true that Germany lost the most people in World War 1. In fact, Germany lost relatively few people compared to other major powers involved in the war. Here's a list of countries with the highest death tolls in World War 1:

- Russia: 1.7 million military deaths and 1.5 million civilian deaths

- France: 1.3 million military deaths and 300,000 civilian deaths

- Germany: 1.8 million military deaths and 700,000 civilian deaths

- United Kingdom: 908,000 military deaths and 16,500 civilian deaths

- United States: 116,000 military deaths and 12,500 civilian deaths

As you can see, Russia and France lost significantly more people than Germany.
