The new political ideology adopted in Russia after it withdrew from World War I was communism. The Bolshevik Party, led by Vladimir Lenin, seized power in the October Revolution of 1917 and established the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR), the world's first socialist state.
