The Indian Wars were a series of conflicts fought between the European colonists or later the United States, and various Native American tribes. These conflicts spanned over a long period of time, beginning in the 16th century and continuing into the late 19th century. As it is a collection of different conflicts rather than a single war, it is difficult to pinpoint a single year when they all began.
