Results of Declaratory Act

* The Declaratory Act asserted Parliament's right to "bind" the colonies "in all cases whatsoever." This effectively nullified the colonial assemblies' power to pass laws that contradicted British law.

* The act led to increased tensions between the British government and the American colonies. Many colonists saw the Declaratory Act as a violation of their rights.

* It contributed to the growing American Revolutionary movement and helped spur actions including the the "Committees of Correspondence" established by Massachusetts to share information and coordinate protests to British polices .

*The act was one of the grievances mentioned in the Declaration of Independence and is widely accepted as one of the major catalysts for the Revolutionary War against the British.
