The Great Wall of China was not successfully penetrated by any major enemy force during the time of its construction or use. The Wall helped preserve the safety and security of Chinese civilizations for over two thousand years. Even during the few cases where invaders came close to breaching the wall, they faced intense counterattacks from Chinese armies. However, the wall did have its limitations and was not entirely impregnable. Over time, nomadic groups were able to infiltrate through certain sections, making it essential for regular maintenance and reinforcement of the wall.
