Seeing the free conduct of Mir Qasim, the British decided to remove him from the post of Nawab. Mir Qasim fled to Patna first and then went to Lucknow and sought help from Nawab Shuja-ud-daula. In those days Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II was also present in Awadh.
Mir Qasim along with Nawab Shuja-ud-daula of Awadh and Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II formed a faction against the British and fought against the British. But on 22 October 1764 AD, he was defeated by the British army under the leadership of Sir Hector Munro.
After the Buxar war, the Bihar administration was being run by Mirza Mohammad Qasim Khan with the support of the Deputy Governor of Bihar, Dheeraj Narayan (brother of Raja Ramnarayan).
