What happens when Odysseus returns?

When Odysseus returns home to Ithaca after a long and arduous journey, he finds his household in disarray and his wife, Penelope, besieged by a group of suitors who have been vying for her hand in marriage. Disguising himself as a beggar, Odysseus tests the loyalty of his servants and assesses the suitors' intentions. With the help of his faithful swineherd, Eumaeus, and his son, Telemachus, he begins to plot his revenge against the suitors. Finally, revealing his true identity, Odysseus engages in a bloody battle and slays the suitors, restoring order and peace to his household.
