Historical story

Why was General Thomas J Jackson anointed with hero status after the Battle of Bull Run?

Thomas J. Jackson was not actually anointed with hero status after the Battle of Bull Run. It was Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson who gained fame at Bull Run due to the resilience of his brigade that held its position even as other Confederate commands were routing. This led to Confederate Brigadier Bernard Bee exclaiming, "Look, men, there is Jackson standing like a stone wall!" from which Jackson earned his new nickname.
