How did Christianity led to the end of gladiator combat?

There is no direct line of causality from Christianity to the end of gladiator combat. Gladiator combat was banned by the Roman emperor Constantine in 325 CE, over a century after the Edict of Milan (313 CE) which had legalized Christianity in the Roman Empire. However, the decline of gladiator combat had already begun before the rise of Christianity, and there were many factors involved, including changes in Roman culture and values, the rise of Christianity, and the increasing cost and complexity of putting on gladiatorial games.
