Historical story

How does Belshazzar show disrespect during the feast?

During the lavish banquet he has thrown, Belshazzar displays shocking contempt for the God of Israel. He commands that the sacred vessels looted from the Temple in Jerusalem be brought to him and his guests. These holy vessels are intended to be used only in the Temple, and Belshazzar's gesture of using them for his own revelry is a blatant act of disrespect and defiance towards God. Moreover, he, his nobles, his wives, and his concubines all drink from them while praising their gods made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone. This desecration of the sacred objects and the blatant idolatry further compound Belshazzar's display of contempt and hubris.
