The first Juventus team (1897-98), with a pink shirt and black tie
It may seem strange, yet the Juventus jersey it has not always been in black and white stripes.
In fact, when the football club was founded, back in 1897, the official uniform, the one with which the players took to the field, was pink.
The reason?
It was decided to use the cloth left in the warehouse of the father of one of the founders of the club Turin , a trader of women's underwear (it was still a long way from today's billionaire football).
However, the pink shirt probably seemed a little too feminine in shape, so it was decided to add a black tie.
In 1903 the company decided to renew the look and relied on an English partner who lived in the city of Nottingham, who sent a stock of black and white vertical striped sweaters , the same ones worn by the local Notts County. team players
Since then, the black and white shirt became the official Juventus shirt, which, however, for some years now, has also decided to adopt the pink one, in honor of the old origins, as a reserve shirt.
