An ancient hospital. The Florentine Renaissance hospitals were well cared for and equipped
The hospitals of Florence at the time of the Medici , almost certainly worked better than those existing in Italy today.
After all, between the 1400s and 1500s, the Tuscan city became the most important in Europe and dictated the law in every field.
Here is what is reported by Jean-Lucas Dubreton in his book Daily life in Florence at the time of the Medici :
"When the patient is taken to one of the numerous city hospitals, he will find enviable comforts:abundant nutrition, selected drinks, competent nurses, spotless room and bedding" .
The doctors however, at the time they were not held in high regard, but this is another topic and I will deal with it in a specific post .
