What is an Appeasement example?

The Munich Agreement of 1938 is widely regarded as a classic example of appeasement. In this instance, the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and French Prime Minister Édouard Daladier agreed to allow Nazi Germany to annex the Sudetenland region of Czechoslovakia in exchange for a promise from Adolf Hitler that he would make no further territorial demands. This decision was made despite the fact that Czechoslovakia had a mutual defense pact with France, and that the Allies were aware of Hitler's aggressive intentions. The appeasement policy pursued by Chamberlain and Daladier was based on the belief that Hitler could be satisfied by giving him what he wanted, and that this would prevent a larger war. However, Hitler continued to pursue his expansionist goals, and the Munich Agreement ultimately failed to achieve its objectives.
