How many steps are in Navy ORM process.?

There are eight steps in the Navy ORM process:

Step 1: Identify and assess hazards and risks: Identify potential hazards associated with the task, and assess the likelihood of the hazard occurring and its potential consequences.

Step 2: Develop controls: Develop and implement risk controls to mitigate the hazards and reduce the likelihood and severity of potential accidents.

Step 3: Assess the residual risks: Evaluate the effectiveness of the controls in reducing the risks and identify any residual risks that remain.

Step 4: Make decisions and take action: Based on the assessed risks, make decisions about whether to proceed with the task and take appropriate actions to manage and control the risks.

Step 5: Supervise and monitor: Continuously monitor the task and ensure that the risk controls are being implemented and effective. Identify and address any deviations from the planned controls or any new hazards that arise.

Step 6: Investigate and report: In case of an accident or near-miss, conduct an investigation to identify the root causes and contributing factors, and report the incident according to the established procedures.

Step 7: Learn from experience: Share lessons learned from incidents and near-misses across the organization to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.

Step 8: Update and improve the ORM process: Regularly review and update the ORM process based on lessons learned, best practices, and new knowledge to ensure its effectiveness in managing risks.
