Why were many women opposed to the fourteenth and fifteenth amendments?

This is inaccurate, many women were in favor of the fourteenth and fifteenth amendments. The women's suffrage movement was closely aligned with the abolitionist and civil rights movements, and many suffragists were vocal advocates for the ratification of the fourteenth and fifteenth amendments. There were some white women who were opposed to extending voting rights to Black men because they feared it might result in a loss of their own rights. Still, the majority of women suffragists viewed the right to vote for all citizens regardless of race as essential to their cause.
