Why was president Harding involved in the teapot dome scandal?

President Harding was not involved in the Teapot Dome scandal. It was his Interior Secretary, Albert Fall, who was implicated in the scandal. Fall had secretly leased government-owned oil reserves at Teapot Dome in Wyoming to private oil companies in exchange for bribes. Harding died in 1923 before the scandal broke, and it was his successor, President Coolidge, who appointed a special prosecutor to investigate the matter. Fall was convicted of bribery and served a year in prison.
