Prab Ho Monument (Old) is a memorial to King Boromwongse. Krom Luang Prachaksinlapakhom Please have it built in 1886 to contain the ashes of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country from the events of defeating the Hor people. 1877-1885
A brief history of the monument's construction is as follows:
In 1877 B.E., the Hor army invaded Vientiane. and set up a headquarters there. After that, food supplies were prepared to attack the various cities. Continue until the city of Nong Khai. At that time Phra Pathum Thewaphiban (Ken), the governor of Nong Khai was absent. Therefore, it was given to Thao Chan Si Surat to guard the city instead. Upon receiving the news of Thao Chan Si Surat's battle, he did not prepare his army for battle. causing the people to evacuate their families to flee the city The Hoi army easily entered Nong Khai. As for Thao Chan Srisurat, the family fled to the Sam Phrao house. Udon Thani Province and Phraya Phisai Soradet (Nu), the governor of Phon Phisai Along with the Political Department, Para people fled the city as well.
When King Chulalongkorn was present He heard the news of the Battle of Hoyk, the army had attacked the city of Nong Khai. Therefore, there is a royal command given to Phraya Maha Pasha, who has been assigned to conquer the city of Ubon Ratchathani already. Bring the army to Nong Khai He also ordered the arrest of Thao Chan Si Surat and Phraya Phisai Soradet and executed. Then Phraya Maha Pasha enlisted forces from Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Khemarat, Nakhon Ratchasima and Roi Et to join together in Nong Khai. and then took the army out to beat the Hor people until they reached Vientiane. The Horde were defeated and fled into the forest. When the country was calm, Phraya Maha Pasha had forcibly forcibly brought people from Vientiane as prisoners to the city of Nong Khai. and then bring the army back to Bangkok.

His Majesty King Chulalongkorn has ordered the interior of Nakhon Ratchasima to bring an army to defeat the Hor people until they fled to settle in Mueang Kwang and Thung Chiang Kham.
1885 His Majesty King Chulalongkorn has a royal command. to Phraya Rajanukul and Phraya Srisuriyaratwaranuwat Raised the army to defeat the Hor people at Thung Chiang Kham on Wednesday, the 14th day of the 4th lunar month, at about 2 o'clock in the morning, the battle reached the point of battling the Hor people, so they retreated. Phraya Rajanukul was hit by the enemy's bullet until his legs were broken and unable to walk. At 4 o'clock in the afternoon, the Hor group gathered their troops to attack to retake the camp, but they were unsuccessful. The Thai army encircled the Hor for 7 days, and the Hor had negotiated an armistice by asking the Thais to return the army. and will give half of the things in Hor camp But the Thai army refused because they didn't trust them.

The monument is an applied art form of geometric shape, masonry and mortar, currently painted white, 10.1 meters high, and the base is a square 4 meters wide, covered with granite slabs. Above the base, make a rectangular box under the gable on all 4 sides, similar to a tetrahedron-shaped building. Squares for inscriptions were drilled on all four sides, along the pediment and inscription holes painted in gold. Next to this section is the top of a pyramid with a square base. The top tip is made to resemble a lotus flower and a crystal ball of a chedi. painted in gold

The ground around the monument is washed sand. Adjacent to the monument on the north side are tables and various offerings. (Considered the present front) Including a piece of sandstone parapet, embroidered on the ground. The top is about 40 centimeters above the ground. Both sides of the parapet are inscribed in Thai Noi characters. The upper part of the parapet is corroded and has traces of wax. from the police and villagers in the area This led to information that this parapet had been in place for a long time. but the exact source is unknown.
Around the monument is a low fence. surrounded by a square There are gates on the north and south. The southern doorway is made into an arched doorway.
North side outside the monument fence enshrines the image of Phra Borommawongse Krom Luang Prachaksinlapakhom, small size
Prap Ho Monument (Old) was last renovated in September 2000 by Nong Khai Provincial Police.
In addition to this monument, Prap Hor There is another monument of Prap Hor which is new. Located in front of the old Nong Khai City Hall building. Prap Hor Monument (New) was built in 1949 by Nong Khai Province. The purpose of the construction was to make the Prab Hor monument stand out and be dignified. as a monument to the brave heroes of the country.
The appearance of the Prap Hor monument (new) is in the shape of Prasat Ha Yod. The shape of the pagoda above the castle is a square pagoda in the local art style.
