What was the reaction colonists gave to The Intolerable Acts?

The reaction by the colonists was not positive when hearing about The Intolerable Acts. In September of 1774, representatives from every colony except Georgia met at the First Continental Congress to discuss their response to the acts, which they viewed as a direct attack on their liberty and autonomy. The Congress ultimately called for a boycott of British goods and the formation of local militias to defend against any potential British military action. The Intolerable Acts only served to further inflame tensions between Britain and the colonies and ultimately contributed to the outbreak of the American Revolution in 1775.
