How did Aphrodite cause the Trojan war?

Aphrodite did not directly cause the Trojan War. The war's cause was a series of events triggered by the judgement of Paris, a Trojan prince who was asked to decide who was the most beautiful of three goddesses: Aphrodite, Hera and Athena. Paris chose Aphrodite, who promised him the love of the most beautiful mortal woman, Helen of Sparta. Helen was already married to Menelaus, king of Sparta, but Paris abducted her, which led to the war between the Greeks and the Trojans.
