Did Romans insist that Jews worship Roman gods?

The Romans generally tolerated the religions of the peoples they conquered, as long as they did not cause unrest or pose a threat to the Roman state. While the Romans expected conquered peoples to show respect for their gods and rulers, they did not typically force them to adopt Roman religious practices.

In the case of the Jews, the Romans recognized Judaism as a legitimate religion and allowed Jews to practice their faith freely. However, there were certain periods of Roman rule when the Jews faced persecution and restrictions. For example, under Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century CE, the Jews were forbidden from practicing certain aspects of their religion, such as circumcision.
