How did the English treat native Americans around Jamestown?

The relationship between the English and Native Americans around Jamestown was initially quite amicable. The colonists were dependent on the Native Americans for food and supplies, and the Native Americans were willing to trade with them. However, tensions soon arose as the English began to encroach on Native American land and resources. In 1622, the English colonists massacred hundreds of Native Americans in what became known as the Jamestown Massacre. This event marked the beginning of a long and bloody conflict between the English and Native Americans in Virginia.
