What did ancient Egyptian women cook?

The staple food of the ancient Egyptians was bread. They made bread from wheat, barley, and einkorn, and the dough was often mixed with water and yeast. Bread was typically baked in a clay oven, and it was often flat and round. Other common foods in the ancient Egyptian diet included vegetables, such as onions, garlic, leeks, and lettuce, and fruits, such as dates and figs. Meat was not a major part of the ancient Egyptian diet, but fish and poultry were sometimes eaten. Ancient Egyptian women also cooked stews and soups. Stews were typically made with meat or vegetables, and soups were often made with lentils. Common spices used in ancient Egyptian cooking included cumin, coriander, and mint.
