How did ancient Egyptians make the ankh?

Ancient Egyptians used a method known as lost-wax casting to make the ankh, which is a hieroglyphic symbol that represents life. The ankh is shaped like a cross with a loop at the top.

To make an ankh, the ancient Egyptians would first create a wax model of the symbol. They would then cover the model with clay and heat it until the wax melted. The melted wax would run out through a hole in the bottom of the clay mold.

When the wax was completely gone, the ancient Egyptians would pour molten metal into the mold. The metal would solidify and form an exact replica of the original wax model. Once the metal had cooled, the clay mold could be broken away to reveal the finished ankh.
