When did women gain the right to inherit property?

In most Western countries, women gained the right to inherit property in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Here are some examples:

* United Kingdom: The Married Women's Property Act 1882 gave married women the right to own and inherit property independently of their husbands.

* United States: The Married Women's Property Act of 1848 gave married women in New York State the right to own and inherit property independently of their husbands. Similar laws were passed in other states in the following decades.

* Canada: The Married Women's Property Act of 1859 gave married women in Canada the right to own and inherit property independently of their husbands.

* Australia: The Married Women's Property Act 1884 gave married women in Australia the right to own and inherit property independently of their husbands.

In some other parts of the world, women gained the right to inherit property more recently. For example, in India, the Hindu Succession Act of 1956 gave women equal rights to inherit property with men.

It's worth noting that the right to inherit property is not the same as the right to own property. In many societies, women had the right to own property but not to inherit it.
