One year that the shells are projected from everywhere on the front, that the men kill each other, subjected to the orders of the General Staff and already condemned by getting on the train which takes them to their section when, in Switzerland, with the editorial staff of the Zimmerwald Manifesto on October 7, 1915 on the socialist side, it is believed that this war is the consequence of “imperialist rivalries”, that capitalism seeks to exploit men for the benefit of only a few. The Capitalists would lie by saying that the war is a national defense to “justify” it, and thus would prevent the advance of the country, by privileging the minority. Could we see here the beginning of communism?
Lenin and Trotsky were present at this assembly, also wanting to condemn the war. This is the first international socialist conference, organized by Robert Grimm, Swiss socialist leader, in which thirty-eight socialists from twelve countries took part. It was Leon Trotsky who wrote the manifesto, he who believed with conviction that to stop the war, a revolution was needed.
