History of Europe

Why was it nessesary for Russia to mobilize its army so much in advance and how does Germany react?

Russia's military mobilization in the months leading up to World War I wasn't exceptionally extensive or unusually early compared to other European powers.

July Crisis:

*Austria-Hungary's declaration of war on Serbia on July 28, 1914, set in motion a chain of diplomatic and military maneuvers involving Russia, Germany, France, and Britain known as the July Crisis.

- Austria-Hungary's mobilization against Serbia prompted Russia to order general mobilization on July 30.

- As a response to Russia's actions, Germany declared war on Russia on August 1 and later on France on August 3.

It is important to note that the mobilization plans of various European countries were well-established before the July Crisis, and while Russia's mobilization was a significant factor in escalating tensions, it was not the sole or decisive cause of World War I.
