Who first came up with the idea of particles and what was his theory?

Democritus, a Greek philosopher who lived in the 5th and 4th centuries BCE, is generally considered to be the first person to propose the idea that all matter is made up of tiny, indivisible particles. He called these particles "atoms", which means "indivisible" in Greek. Democritus believed that atoms were eternal, unchanging, and could not be broken down into smaller parts. He also believed that atoms were in constant motion and that their interactions with each other could explain all the phenomena that we observe in the world around us.

Although Democritus' theory was not widely accepted at the time, it laid the foundation for the modern atomic theory, which was developed in the 19th and 20th centuries.
