How many lives were lost in the Battle of Stalingrad?

The total number of lives lost in the Battle of Stalingrad is estimated to be around 2 million, including both military personnel and civilians. Of these, around 1 million were Soviet troops and civilians, and around 1 million were Axis troops. The battle, which lasted from July 1942 to February 1943, is considered to be one of the deadliest battles in history.
