History of South America

Why does the American flag have there stars on flag?

There are 50 stars, not three, on the American flag. Each star represents one of the fifty states that make up the United States of America. The stars are arranged in nine rows of six stars each, with the exception of the top row, which has seven stars. This arrangement is said to represent the "constellation of stars" that was seen over Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-1778, when the Continental Army was encamped there.
