The national government fared better as a result of the nullification crisis. Although South Carolina was able to nullify the Tariff of 1832, the federal government was able to assert its authority and enforce the tariff. This was a significant victory for the national government, as it established the principle that the federal government has the power to enforce its laws, even if states disagree with them. Additionally, the nullification crisis helped to strengthen the federal government by leading to the passage of the Force Bill, which gave the president the authority to use military force to enforce federal laws.
