Cuzco was the center of the world for the Incas. Therefore, the Spaniards built another city on top of the sumptuous capital.
The origin of Cuzco is intertwined with the legends of the Inca empire. Where the city is located, it had been inhabited for centuries before the arrival of these people, but it was under their rule that the region reached its zenith.
At the beginning of the occupation, the city was divided into two sectors:Hanan (high) and Hurin (low).
The great planner of Cuzco as the seat of the empire was the sovereign Pachacutec. To achieve his goal, Pachacutec ordered the eviction of old Cuzco, drew up a new layout for the city and tried to divide up their houses and land among those who thought they should live there.
The reconstruction of the city began with the channeling of streams, with this, in addition to preventing floods and guaranteeing the water supply to the city. The sovereign summoned people from various empires for labor.
