Did Captain Cook bring disease to Australia?

There is no definitive evidence that Captain James Cook brought disease to Australia. However, it is possible that he may have inadvertently introduced diseases such as smallpox, influenza, and measles to the indigenous population, who had no natural immunity to these diseases. These diseases could have had a devastating impact on the indigenous population, as they were not resistant to them.

It is also possible that Cook's crew may have brought other diseases, such as venereal diseases, to Australia. These diseases could have had a negative impact on the indigenous population, as they could have caused infertility and other health problems.

However, it is important to note that there is no direct evidence that Cook was responsible for introducing any diseases to Australia. It is possible that other factors, such as trade with other countries or the arrival of other European explorers, may have been responsible for the introduction of these diseases.
