What caused Gondwanaland to separate?

Gondwanaland began to break apart due to the movement of tectonic plates. The supercontinent was located on the Earth's surface, which is made up of several plates that are in constant motion. Over millions of years, the plates that made up Gondwanaland began to move apart, causing the supercontinent to split into smaller pieces. This process is known as continental drift and it is driven by the convection currents within the Earth's mantle.
