Which country is the origin of chocolate?

The origin of chocolate is believed to be in Mesoamerica, which includes regions in present-day Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and parts of Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. The earliest known evidence of chocolate consumption dates back to around 1900 BC, when the Olmecs, an ancient civilization in Mesoamerica, used cocoa beans to create a chocolate drink called "xocoatl."
