What were the first and last English colonies to be established in New World?

The first successful permanent English colony in the New World was Jamestown, founded in 1607. located in present-day Virginia. The first attempt at an English colony in the Americas was Roanoke Colony, established in 1585 on Roanoke Island in what is now North Carolina. However, the colony disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and the fate of its settlers remains unknown.

The last English colony to be established in the New World was Georgia, founded in 1732 by James Edward Oglethorpe. Georgia was intended as a haven for debtors and other individuals seeking a fresh start.
