The ocean south of Asia is called the Indian Ocean. It is the fifth largest ocean in the world, covering an area of approximately 73 million square kilometers (28 million square miles). The Indian Ocean is bordered by the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, the Timor Sea, and the Java Sea. It also connects the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean.
