There is no doubt that the troops brought supplies, weapons, and military equipment to the Allied troops. These were not what the troops were most in need of at this time. The Allies were heavily outnumbered and outgunned, and although the new troops were fresh, they were untried and inexperienced in battle. The real reason for their importance was to rekindle the determination of the Allied troops who had been fighting for several weeks, many with little or no sleep, and to remind them that a vast reservoir of fresh men and equipment was not far away.
