History of North America

Why did the Americans favor north at beginning of civil war?

The statement that Americans favored the North at the beginning of the Civil War is not entirely accurate. While it is true that the majority of the population of the northern states supported the Union, there was significant support for the Confederacy in some southern states and also among some individuals in the North. The Civil War was a complex conflict with deep divisions within the United States, and allegiances were not simply based on geography.
