History of North America

What type of government did the Virginia Plan support and what states it a favor?

Type of government: The Virginia Plan supported a strong national government with three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. The legislative branch would be bicameral, with the upper house (the Senate) representing states and the lower house (the House of Representatives) representing the people. The executive branch would be headed by a single president, elected by the legislature, and would have the power to veto legislation. The judicial branch would consist of a Supreme Court and inferior courts, which would be appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate.

States in favor: The Virginia Plan was supported by the delegations from Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
